Unrivalled album highlight is the third track, ‘Jackie, Is it my Birthday?’ where the boys team up with the legendary Sinead O’Connor, a sure fire way of getting the music press’s attention. Regardless, the atmospheric synthesizers almost outshine O’Connor’s outstanding ethereal vocals to create a really fantastic lead single. Check it out.‘I’m Not a Young Man Anymore’ channels a little country which sits awkwardly on the album. It is saved however by Wham Bam JFK; a real corker of a rock record with grating riffs and a feel-good chorus.
Cowboy’s Dream is sickeningly Iggy, in a good way, and you won’t be able to resist the urge to dance to it. The Wolfmen hone all the qualities of a top-quality rock band while throwing in some uniqueness, spontaneity, disco and soul. It is Britpop nostalgia with a thick underlay of grunge influences. It’s everything you have heard before but not quite. Tracks like ‘Coca Cola Kid’ leave a little to be desired lyrically, but the music still boasts a lot of originality making ‘Married to the Eiffel Tower’ definitely worth a listen.
