I had much the same growing up, a good mix of rock music from my dad such as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and many more, all of which have helped to kindle my rock music love.
These days i am more into the punk pop area of music with bands such as Sum 41, The Offspring and Blink 182, all bands that are tagged as pop punk but all of which have thier serious sides them and can play much more then pop punk.
my favourite band is and has been for some time Sum 41, and thier new album "Screaming Bloody Murder" has some good inspiring and thought provoking songs.
