MORCHEEBA BLOOD LIKE LEMONADE

It’s been well over a decade since Morcheeba’s germination, seeded by a chance encounter, in the mid 1990’s and their inaugural album ‘Who Can You Trust?’ and since then, the band has been fronted by a cavalcade of varied artists or, indeed, not fronted at all. But the music of Morcheeba has always had a sense of ebb an flow about it – even the poppiest of their tracks could inspire motion sickness in the most iron stomached of us all – and, true to that form, the line-up has come full circle too with Skye Edwards taking up her rightful mantle.

MORCHEEBA - EVEN THOUGH

After eight years apart Morcheeba is once again gracing the music scene with not only their presence but also their unique, laid back sound.
“Even Though” was released as a download single on 24 May 2010 to introduce fans to their seventh album, “Blood Like Lemonade”, due for release on 7 June 2010.

TORO Y MOI LEAVE EVERYWHERE

Toro Y Moi, otherwise known as Chaz Bundick is a 23 year old Columbia, South Carolina resident whose debut full length album CAUSERS OF THIS was released a while back. Abandoning the electronica vibe of that release, new single LEAVE EVERYWHERE, released through the Carpark label sees Bundick dipping into the more psychedelic pop realms, a trippy affair that conjures images of Animal Collective quietly jamming with sixties era Beach Boys at some sun drenched barbecue.

It's a left turn for sure, an unexpected but not entirely unwelcome change of pace for Toro Y Moi, LEAVE EVERYWHERE, the kind of gently insistent summer single that creeps innocuously beneath your skin, leaving you with a scratch you'll itch and itch but never quite be rid of. Surprisingly, both entrenched in the bombastically expansive and the quietly lo-fi, LEAVE EVERYWHERE is the kind of song designed to reveal new treats on each and every listen, a single that slowly reveals its true potential over time. Chaz Bundick crafting something here that's wonderfully beautiful and surreal.

Toro Y Moi may have made something of a left turn musically wise with LEAVE EVERYWHERE ,but its a change of pace that proves this South Carolina musician someone capable of very special things indeed and leaves you restlessly anxious to hear just what comes next.

THE DEER TRACKS EGGEGRUND

Having had such great success with the release of first LP Aurora, then touring with our very own master of the electronic and eclectic arts, Patrick Wolf, it was time for The Deer Tracks to take a well deserved rest. They took to the small island called Eggegrund, off the coast of their hometown, Gavle, in eastern Sweden.

It was on this island that, David Lehnberg and Elin Lindfors, the two masterminds behind Deer Tracks, would call to the sea and the wind to inspire them. The effects, none the less, making Eggegrund,a haunting and expressive EP.

KAKI KING JUNIOR

A much welcomed fifth release from the Alanta instrumentalist extraordinaire, Kaki King. Taking her outgoing and original style that infuses; guitar drumming, fret tapping and string slapping, and once again pushing it into a different direction. King mentions “My evolution from record to record has been personal not commercial. For example there’s none of the “guitar tapping” that I’m known for. There not a single bit of it on the record except for a half a second on ‘The Hoopers of Hudspeth.'”

KICK TO KILL - CUT ME

A dark and menacing throwback to the eighties goth frenzy of bands like Bauhaus and the Sisters Of Mercy, Glasgow based three piece Kick To Kill are an outfit brewing up a similar sounding melting pot of cold synth stabs, throbbing guitar scapes and pitch black vocal intensity.
